Gilsonite, Natural Bitumen, Natural Asphalt, Asphaltum, Asphaltite or, Gilsonite

Gilsonite is also called Natural Bitumen, Natural Asphalt, Asphaltum, Asphaltite or, Gilsonite is a mineral substance composed of hydrocarbons In fact, crude oil has hardened. Gilsonite is found in underground mines as a hard, black material with a glossy surface. Gilsonite formation routes to its origin which is crude oil. Basically Gilsonite is formed when a proto-petroleum deposit is trying to elevate to surface and solidifying within the cracks and under pressure in millions of years the material becomes a solid shiny black source of Hydrocarbons. Due to the fragility of this material, it is often used in powder form, which has a dark to black brown color. Gilsonite is found in nearly straight, vertical veins across an area approximately 100 kilometers long and 50 kilometers wide. Gilsonite was formed by a unique geologic event millions of years ago that caused a proto-petroleum deposit forming at that time to fill large surface cracks, later solidifying into the pure resinous rock mined today. Gilsonite is hand-mined in underground shafts using pneumatic jack hammers. This material, which is mainly carbon, is found abundantly in Iranian oil fields and is extracted from the mines found in these areas. Natural bitumen is dark brown and very fragile, which is why it is often consumed in powder form. The natural bitumen bond with bitumen oil produces a material that has Gilsonite durability and bitumen flexibility.
